20. Cory Gunz

Best Project: Heir To The Throne (Mixtape with DJ Drama)
Most Recent: Datz WTF I’m Talkin’ Bout (Mixtape)
Upcoming: The Life of Cory Gunz (Album) [TBA 2015]

Bronx emcee Cory Gunz, well known for being the rap prodigy to his father the 90’s rapper Peter Gunz (of Lord Dariq & Peter Gunz) independently started grinding at the age of 14 when he signed a brief deal with Def Jam. He gained a lot of attention for his remix to Rihanna’s 2005 hit “If It’s Lovin’ That You Want.” Afterwards he hit the studio and released a few mixtapes. His featured verses on two more hits, both with Lil Wayne, “Amilli” and “6 Foot 7 Foot” were expected to have spiked his presence in the game. During his MTV reality show Son of a Gun, Nick Cannon publically mentored him, instead of signing with his Ncredible imprint, he met with Lil Wayne and Birdman becoming a member of YMCMB. He then dropped a few more mixtapes, some colder than others, but always containing strong rapping abilities. His wordplay and rhyming skills are phenomenal. He drops over-the-head metaphors and has a gangster attitude doing so. It has been a long time since he has received popular notice although he has been persistent in dropping music. Hopefully his debut album ‘The Life of Cory Gunz’ will contain tracks with his full potential and help his rise to stardom.
